Strength & Conditioning Program for LL Age 11 and Up

Somerville Little League is offering a strength and conditioning program for players who are Little League 11 or 12 years old, or Babe Ruth 13, 14 or 15 years old. It will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays from January 27 through March 24 (with the exception of February 10) — a total of eight sessions. The fee is $80.


The program will take place at Rx Strength Training (50 Tufts St., Somerville, MA 02145). Pat Kelsey, who will run the program, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) who specializes in sports performance. His training sessions focus on basic barbell movements, kettlebells, medicine balls and bodyweight exercises. Athletes will learn essential strength movements like squats and deadlifts, advanced rotational power for throwing and hitting, and reactive agility for fielding and base running. Performance enhancement and injury prevention are the primary goals.
